Well, obtaining experience isn't too difficult. The larger the enemy, the more experience you gain. The way you use it now is different as I just found out last night trying out v4.4. There is now an interesting balance between your actual level, permanent stat upgrades, and abilities you can pick. All that I have done so far is started the sewer, beat the Giant Rat on floor 5, and went to floor 10. I was able to get to around level 100 or so but have consumed my experience to rank up my abilities, so I am back to level zero but I have higher stats due to upgrades I found in the dungeon. Just play through the various dungeons and continue going higher. Otherwise once you get companions you can repetitively fight them and they level up making their fights harder and you get more experience from them.
Okay but which person should I farm from? Giant rat, Barrel master, Bunshido, or Beast? Also when I try to get exp for a follower battling with me does giving them a broken sword at level 20 help level them faster? OKay I know I can refight followers that allow it thing is I was fighting the Giant rat to try leveling the Raving fan and no matter how big he got I'd never get more than 339 EXP or so. I'm not sure what's wrong.
I've seen in the change log there is a slime follower can someone please give me a hint where to look? Also since chests have a high chance to drop nothing this means getting weapons like the broken sword leveled up will be harder to do right now. I never could get it past level 20. Alao i just remebered the Barrel master still can't hold a right hand weapon and if a new one is given without taking his barrel first it dissapears permanently
I'm not part of the patreon so it may be in v4.5 as I haven't seen a slime follower in v4.4 or lower. Spoiler: you can turn into a slime after completing the Lich quest from the apothecary.
I haven't had issues with chests dropping nothing. You usually get something, perhaps not what you want though. Otherwise dungeon chests, the gold ones drop better stuff. Imo, level 20 is very high and difficult to obtain and only gets worse. Ability crystals provide significant experience gains however, so try using those if you don't need SP for your abilities.
Well to tell you I recently got 4.5 due to being a patreon and when I searched anything i'd usually open it to have no prompt show up to tell me I got an item so thus I got no drops. And I know abillity crystals are good for leveling weapons but problem is getting enough of them. I'm currently playing the public version 4.4 and I can't seem to get the size sword to drop from the Sizemaster at all I know it's likely a rare drop but it'd hard to encounter him in the grass where you can find a essence of muscle.
It's been a while but I believe when I got the size sword I tend to get it from high level sizemasters in the dungeon back there. Probably floor level 10+.
Where can I get a steady amount of ability crystals in the game? Also, it seems that chests are broken and have a chance not to give anything upon searching them. This includes chests that require keys to open. Please fix.
Well in my time playing the game versions sadly you can only get 1 crystal per boss for the Lich, Bandit boss, Foreman dragon, Mad chimera, and Bunshido you also can get one free from Plush's area other than that only thing I can tell you is go dungeon delving and hope you find one. I've had one of the kobolds in the crystal cave dungeon in the construction zone drop one but it's likely rare.
Most complaints I have are things that come with being a WIP.
That being said, I have one suggestion: a cheat menu, or even something as simple as a “free level up” button.
My reasoning for this? It can get rather tedious replaying things every new version, so this could cut down a lot on grinding. It can of course be removed in the final version!
If you go into the files and find the savegames folder, u can see ur saves and move them to that same file in the updated version of the game.But If u do this and ur game keeps crashing then it might be because the version had too many changes idk just don't move them from really old versions.
I agree with this, especially with the new update to the free version. XP was nerfed and it very tedious having to be over Lvl 200 and have the XP cost be around 20k with monsters only giving 200 to 100 XP.
Wait so you're saying the exp in 4.4 is less than in previous or future versions? No wonder it feels tedious trying to level either myself my current character is at the 1000's or a partner. I hope none of the versions after 4.4 keep this feature as it makes the bame harder to enjoy since growing is the main focus

What are your crashes? I started a new file in v4.4 and had hell of a time to get it to be stable. Frankly, I don't know what I did but I was able to play for over an hour without a crash after messing with it for an hour...
I had deleted some files in the UnrealEngine folders in AppData, but that did not seem to fix it for me. Copying saves over may have caused problems the first time, and second time I tried. This third time I downloaded the file again and kept it clean and its working OK. I also set the game to fullscreen instead of windowed. Soon I will be trying to bring my v3.9 file over, but I probably won't even use it anymore due to the changes in how experience works.
The free version is v4.3, and the patreon version is one month ahead and is v4.4. I do believe he plans to release the next version in a few days, prior to a break for Christmas.
The muscle stat should increase the size and definition of all muscles. If you're talking wings, I have not messed with any of that and I believe it's relatively new so they may just be decorative for now.

It seems to be a crash that could be related to a bad file or something in the build that DigitalFurBelow needs to find and fix.

I was copying over saves and perhaps thats the issue. So on the third time I downloaded a new copy of the game and put in a separate folder clean. I also put the game into full screen, not windowed. After about an hour of messing around I am crash free.
Hey, I love this game but in all of a sudden the default inventory for my bushido companion is all gone. Her equipment missing and I had to equip her with what I had. It's strange cause it just happened suddenly, it happened right before I exited the sewer dungeon with her. Not gonna lie that I didn't properly wait for things to load in, I just entered and exited the dungeon immediately because I wanted to refresh the overworld cause of the robot arm girl. Just a bug I encountered myself, hope it'll get fixed. ;^^
Om not sure if im doing something wrong but when I save the game then quit it and close the program itself the I open it up to play the game for some reason it wont save my game so I have to start over. Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug bcs I've lost all my progress 3 times now.
Weird, I can't seem to download the game on my pc. Every time it finishes it comes up with "Failed - Forbidden" error. Does anyone know why it happen? Are there any alternative links? I can download this game on my other laptop no problem.
Nope. You can basically go and do what you want. The goal is to simply, grow. There are a few quests that you can get. Some basic ones are at the bulletin board, one from the apothecarist, one from the blacksmith(s). You can get some followers to help you battle. There are two dungeons other than the sewer. There's a few bosses around the main city.
I'm playing v4.3 and I noticed that the leg patterns KneeHigh_Base_Color, KneeFluff_Base_Color, ThighHigh_Base_Color, and ThighHighFluff seem to turn the crotch bright white for some reason. Is there any way to fix this?
Pretty sure you need to start over with each new version. You can keep your character's appearance by copying the string at the bottom of the Character menu, though.
Actually you can manually import save files from previous versions into new versions by finding your save on the old version in windowsnoeditor/growthrpg/saves/savegames and just move the save file to the same destination in the new build
You can transfer your saves to a new version by going into the main folder 'WindowsNoEditor', down to 'GrowthRPG', down to 'Saved', down to 'SaveGames'. In this folder you would want to take anything relevant but "Save0.sav", etc, are your saved files. Word of caution keeping the save file could bring bugs along with it. So, save often or start anew. Random97's comment is nice too so you at least don't lose your personalization.
I don't really see any bloom other than the sun, but then again I think I like that effect so it's usually on in any games I play. However, if you open the console using tilde "~", you can type in the command "r.BloomQuality=0" to turn it off and at least =1 to turn it back on.
So what's up with the sword in the stone? I interact with it, but it just says that it's name is "Speaker Name" and then no text. It doesn't appear in my inventory afterwards either, so how do I get it
Anyway, I found a bug in version 4.3. 1) When I increase the muscles, then the place with him chest / boobs grows twice as much if you play for a female and it's very strange. 2) When I gave my companion a drink of the growth potion, she did not increase in size and often repeated animations. I don't know if it was fixed in 4.4?
I have a big problem with the "SaveGames" folder. The saved .acid files do not appear. Just as a curiosity. I log into the game and I can see my saved game. Does anyone else have this similar situation? Because I had a problem with it. When I downloaded the 3.9 version between May and June, all the backups were preserved. But I was curious after that (end of August, 20th), that the last saved file did not save my backup afterwards. My last save was something above 10K level. The same can be said for version 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2. Something is not right with my computer. Is something missing in it?
I'm not sure what a '.acid' file is. However in my 'SaveGames" folder within the main folder structure of GrowthRPG contains up to 3 saves titled 0-2 as 'Save0.sav'. This you can copy to the new versions as you go. The only thing you have to do is start the new version at least once to create the folder structure.
By resources do you mean computer hardware? I have a 5800x and 3070ti on an UW1440p monitor. I can get 60+ fps on epic quality settings. It uses about 60-80% of my gpu and 20% or less of my cpu. On economy settings the gpu usage falls 20-40%. If you have a basic gaming computer this game should just run fine.

You need to select the weapon you want, then use materials to level it up.
Only metals, essences (not all are compatible) and ability crystals are valid upgrade materials.
i figured it out, i had to select the weapon that had the white background as opposed to pressing e, lmao i am stupid

Using it allows you to get more ability points for your skills.
You can use it to get 5 ability points or give a massive boost of xp to a weapon using the forge.

Is the "beast" you find under the tree supposed to be an endless challenge, or can you recruit them as well?
It's endless from what I've tested, fought them around a dozen times. Maybe they'll be recruitable in the future?

Just downloaded the game and this happen when just starting it. I tried to redownload three times now.
Same happened for me the first time I opened it, but it randomly worked the second time. But now it always crashes in that way so I'm totally lost
in 4.3 how do i remove the Bloom Effect its not in graphics the previous update didn't have it

In an ideal world, instead of a blank string there'd be text along the lines of "You try to pull out the sword, but you're not strong enough."

It proabably means an important value is outside its acceptable range and is causing problems.
You might have to find that value and change it manually.
Either that or the files are corrupted and you need to redownload the game.

Any graphics card with 2GB of VRAM, 8GB of RAM and a 3GHz CPU should give you enough juice to run this smoothly.
